This Thanksgiving is much different than others, but we hope you are still able to take time today to remember all of your blessings. At Genesis Village, we are incredibly thankful for our precious residents that we have the privilege of serving and showing love towards each day.

This past week, we had the privilege of celebrating Veterans Day at Genesis Village❤ We were blessed with beautiful weather, so we could hold a small and socially distant outdoor ceremony honoring all of our GV Veterans who sacrificed so much for our freedom.🇺🇸
We wore our GV "Thank a Veteran" T-shirts all week supporting these brave men and women!
Each Veteran was presented with a beautiful Veterans Flag gift donated by Hidden Beauty and Tim Hortons provided 160 four packs of donuts for our GV residents! We had a blast making our very own "Tim Hortons Drive-Thru" and passing the donuts out to all of our residents😁

Congrats you two for helping make Genesis Village the 'Home Sweet Home' that it is❤
The Genesis Village volunteers are a huge part of our community❤ Due to current restrictions, they haven't been able to volunteer the last handful of months. It was so heartwarming to deliver a personalized card from our team and delicious mini apple pies to each volunteer this past week. We wanted to make sure they know how much we miss and appreciate them🥧
This month we were able to be part of a zoom call between GV Resident Randy Mills, his brother-in-law GV Resident Scott Foster, their family, and the staff at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. The purpose of the call was to surprise a staff member with a scholarship that was started by Randy in honor of his wife, also Scott's sister.
"I started a scholarship endowment in 2018 called The Sweet Caroline Elizabeth Foster scholarship in sponsorship with The Miami Valley Hospital Foundation. When Caroline and I were married six years in 1981 with two daughters ages 5 years old and 6 months old she got a rare form of leukemia and was given only six weeks to live. Hospice was called in. But she fought like the dickens to live knowing I would never be able to raise our daughters on my own. She survived and in 2010 she was recognized as the Foundation's Survivor's Champion of Hope. I started this scholarship which will be continued annually long after I pass."
This year's recipient is Angel Shumaker, an ER Nurse at Miami Valley Hospital. Angel will be attending Cedarville University with a new focus on geriatrics and home care! We are so proud to know Randy and have him as part of our GV Family. Our Residents make a difference!
It was a beautiful day yesterday for the "Oak Openings Tree House Tour"!
We had a blast! 😁
The Library of Congress had the privilege of interviewing our amazing Genesis Village resident, Jack. He talked about his service as a Marine in WWII along with many stories and heartfelt moments from other times of service ❤ At GV, we are incredibly proud to support and recognize our veterans who gave so much for their country. We are forever thankful for your service and sacrifice!

What a sweet surprise to see this uplifting message the Maumee Senior Center is displaying right now! Thank you for your kind words. We love working with you and so many others in our community to help make retirement years simply amazing ❤.
One of our resident's grandsons, along with other boy scouts from his troop, raised funds to donate a cabinet, games, card shufflers and batteries for our Life Enrichment resident activities. They also built the canopy outside in one of our courtyards😁 This group of young men worked very hard and we are incredibly thankful for all they did for GV!❤
Our Genesis Village Garden is a beautiful addition to our senior living community that you can view from our newer deluxe studios & a variety of our south wing apartments, or while enjoying a delicious breakfast or savory gourmet coffee in our "Solid Ground Cafe". Many also enjoy the garden view while taking a stroll through our garden walkway on their way to enjoy a homemade meal in our spacious dining area☀️😁

I had fun delivering some delicious Genesis Village mini cherry pies to a number of people in our community this week😁🥧❤.
Have a great 4th of July weekend everyone!🇺🇸
We want to give a shout out to these awesome GV staff that work hourly each week! They had perfect attendance for 3 months straight🙌. We are thankful for such an amazing team😁
Attached are some pictures I was able to snag during the Genesis Village lunch we provided for our staff and medical onsite ProMedica staff today. It was pretty busy a few different times during the 2 hours, so I took as many as I could when I wasn't refilling food and passing gifts out.
It seemed like everyone enjoyed their delicious food and new GV lanyards & totes! You guys work hard and we appreciate all you do❤
One of our newer staff shared this with a few of us while she was getting food, so I wanted to pass it along:
"I have to tell you guys that this is the best place I've ever worked. It is so rewarding here. I'm really proud to work here."
Have a great rest of your day and thanks for enjoying lunch with all of us earlier☀️
While working yesterday, I dressed the bears and this impromptu fun began....
Our GV mascot, Teddy, and his lady are sporting our new Genesis Village "Stronger Together" shirts! These two attracted quite the 'socially distanced' crowd which turned into an impromptu photo shoot📸.
Such a fun afternoon we had!!😁❤
(If you look carefully, you will find two new additions to Teddy's family😉)
Every year the Girl Scouts donate a truck load of GS cookies to Heroes In Action. HIA then packs and ships them out from Genesis Village to the troops overseas! Thank you to both organizations for loving on those who sacrifice so much for all of us. ❤🇺🇸
Tonight a few of our residents were out taking a stroll through the GV garden and enjoying the view.
Each month, in true Genesis Village fashion, we load up our cart with delicious cupcakes and buzz through the halls singing 'Happy Birthday' as loud as we can to our amazing residents and staff who gained another beautiful year that month. Lots of laughter and silliness are usually a large part of this parade through the GV building. Happy Birthday to all of those who celebrate this month! You are loved.

Zoom continues to keep our residents and their families connected through the current circumstances. Another silver lining we found is that it has also opened a new opportunity for residents to see family that are even further away....like Russia and New Zealand!
Such amazing and precious moments!
We had the privilege of providing lunch that was delivered to over 100 Kingston of Perrysburg staff today! It was a true blessing for us to show a little extra kindness and love to a fellow senior community during this time
Below is a picture their team sent us along with an email that said:
"The pizza was fabulous and thank you for your thoughtfulness and kindness! GV Rocks!"
Meet Teddy!
He has become our "not so little" GV mascot during quarantine. He likes to hangout in random spots throughout our building and you just never know where you will find him.
A HUGE thank you to PENTA for donating hanging baskets, potted plants and individual plants to Genesis Village today!!!
We would like to give special recognition to PENTA staff, Teri Swaisgood (Penta Horticulture/Landscape Management lab) and Rachel Bernhard (Penta Assistant Supervisor of Student Affairs), for making this happen.

Our fellow health care workers need some extra kindness during these very challenging times. Thank you to our GV owners, Jim & Cheryl, for the idea to give back and to PizzAroma for collaborating with us to deliver delicious pizza and chef salads from Genesis Village for the staff at The Lakes of Monclova today!
We are stronger together.
As many of you know, we LOVE pets at Genesis Village and they are a huge part of our resident and staff's daily lives.
This past month, our GV staff submitted photos of their pets and our residents had to guess which pet belonged to each staff member. It was such a fun contest!
Beth, our GV resident, won the contest and Ashley, our GV staff member, had the most correct guesses matching her with the correct pets.

Even in the most challenging times, it is important to remember what we are thankful for.
Today was a blast celebrating the Genesis Village April Birthdays! We were able to serenade everyone outside their apartments, offices and in the lobby.

They wanted to recognize and honor our staff while showing their appreciation, love and thankfulness for everything that the whole team is doing.
We have the BEST residents!
So many of our GV residents have been chatting, catching up and laughing with their families via "Zoom at Genesis Village" during this quarantine.
All of the smiles and love during these special moments have made so many hearts happy.
Some of our awesome GV residents have spent their time making masks to donate to the Toledo Clinic Cancer Center along with others in need right now. Thank you ladies!
Our GV residents do an amazing job at encouraging and keeping all of us laughing.....even during these crazy times.
That includes making light of the toilet paper madness and encouraging us with notes like what Pat's says: "Under the circumstances you seem to be handling things fairly well!!!"
Families and kids from the community warming the hearts of our residents and staff with beautiful art and messages this weekend
